Update on Stornoway Post Office

Our campaign to save the main Stornoway Post Office is gathering momentum. Thank you to the hundreds of islanders who signed our petition - your support is powering our calls to retain this vital local service. There is a unique island case to maintain our chief Post Office. I've raised this matter repeatedly in Parliament and have met with Post Office Minister Gareth Thomas MP to press our case. Encouragingly, the minister has been open to exploring all options to protect the full suite of services in Stornoway.

From November, a new Postmaster, Elliot Jacobs, will take over the branch under franchise. While Post Office HQ continues to assess the long-term future of the Stornoway service and its premises, I welcome the continuation of service at the current location. Any potential relocation would not occur before spring 2026 and would require full public consultation. I will be following developments closely and will update constituents through my website of any news.

I remain firmly committed to ensuring Stornoway retains the full spectrum of Post Office services and will keep pushing at every level to make that happen.

Please get in touch if you'd like to add your support to our campaign.
